BlackXDesign Posters

The Black By Design symposium is held at SDSU that covers the topics of black innovation and identity within the design field. I submitted a series of four posters exploring the symposiums four topics of Black Design Heritage, Representation and Empowerment, Social Justice and Activism, and Future Directions and Possibilities. While creating my posters I was inspired by the history of protest posters as well as linocut, and used these techniques to guide my process. My posters feature the stories of Cyrus Kabiru, Ryan Coogler, Vanity Williams, and Zulu beadwork makers. During the symposium I won first place in the category for Future Directions and Possibilities for my poster celebrating the philosophy of Afrofuturism.
