About Me

Hello! I'm Abby Alsbaugh, a graphic designer born and raised in San Diego. I enjoy bringing a playful and vibrant approach to visual communication, branding, and digital media, finding the perfect middle-ground between practicality and personality.

I am a recent college graduate with a strong foundation in visual storytelling and a background in human resources, which helped me build solid organization, time management, and collaboration skills. When i'm not designing you can find me taking my dog on a hike, getting lost in a book, or crocheting yet another blanket.

Education

Bachelor of Arts- Emphasis in Graphic Design

San Diego State University, Summa Cum Laude, May 2025

Through my coursework, I built a strong foundation in graphic design and digital media, gaining hands-on experience with tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Figma, and Canva. I developed a solid understanding of core design principles such as typography, color theory, branding, and visual hierarchy. My studies also included creating marketing materials like social media graphics, brochures, and flyers, along with exploring web and UI/UX design through wireframing and prototyping. I learned the essentials of print production, including preparing files for print, understanding color formats like CMYK and RGB, and proper formatting. Working on group projects also helped me strengthen my collaboration and project management skills, especially when it came to meeting deadlines and communicating ideas clearly within a team.

Work Experience

Human Resources Assistant- PKL Services

12/2021- Present

Work Experience Student- Cuyamaca College Career Education

Spring 2023

In my remote role with an aerospace contractor, I supported human resources operations for over 100 employees across multiple states, ensuring compliance with both state and federal regulations. I managed and maintained accurate employee records, payroll information, and compliance documents, including training certifications, ESOP benefits, and 401K enrollment. I also handled onboarding and hiring processes for new employees in California, making sure all required state trainings were completed and records were kept up to date. In addition, I worked closely with team managers on special projects such as annual audits and took the lead on COVID leave management for California employees by verifying eligibility, reporting positive cases to San Diego County, and tracking leave execution to ensure timely delivery of benefits.

Utilizing brand guidelines created  different forms of media for the Strong Workforce Programs- Career Center including digital posters, brochures, and social media posts for events and outreach.
